I did several Times GP (Can Am), CART, and NASCAR races at Riverside Raceway, all CART and some NASCAR (including Datsun Twrin 200s (CART and NASCAR same day), and the Questor GP (F1 vs. F5000) at Ontario Motor Speedway, CART and NASCAR at California Speedway/Auto Cloub Speedway, all IMSA races at Del Mar, Can Am, CART, and NASCAR at Laguna Seca, CART at Meadowlands, F1 at Phoenix, All 45 Long Beach GPs (1 F5000, F1, and CART/IndyCar),
two Indy Car at Sonoma*, Pomona.NHRAs. Ii's OK to brag when you get old.

Zandvoort (Sunday's F1 race): Raptor story from Auto Racing Forum:

Been to Zandvoort (the track, not the race). Zandvoort is close to Scheveningen Pleasure Pier and Delft, home of famous Delft Blue Pottery Dutch china. That day at nearby Alkmaar, home of the famous cheese market, we had our VW camper backed into and absolutely crushed by a municipal garbage truck -- the day before we put it on a ship to be transported to LA. (whereupon it was lost at sea for six months -- a story for another day). Within 10 minutes the mayor of the town was there and promised reimbursement. Danmed if they didn't pay up months later!

They were fantastic events, we had T-shirts made up for every participant, catered food for lunch, trophies, and many door prizes to give out. One year the grand prize was a free set of rims. I still have my T-shirts from the events, they wear like iron, best made T-shirts I've ever seen, we had them produced by a local shop in Michigan. The events ran so smoothly, and great fun. We had a few S2000's show up along with other Hondas, though it was primarily for owners of Honda Civic Si's that the forum was created upon. Good times. Gingerman Raceway is in South Haven Michigan, a really nice place to visit, the track is featured in many auto magazines who do their testing there many years - Motor Trend, Road and Track, etc.
Hey Billy, every time I see your screen name I think of some members who attended our track events from the Chicago area back in the day. They would flash the "westside" symbol with their hands as they drove by each other, I assumed it was westside Chicago. Was that you by chance, lol. It brings back memories.
Well, the west side (and east side) are old gang signs, to be honest. I hung out with a fair number of the chicago crew, but I don't think the west side symbols were related to me specifically (though they definitely got thrown around when I showed up
). But that was 2001-2006 give or take.
