[uberoink]Don't get me wrong, it does sound better. Just still not pretty. It doesn't shriek/howl like a Ferrari, doesn't scream like an S2000, doesn't rumble like a Z06 or Cobra. It's as if it doesn't know what it wants to sound like. [/uberoink]

"uberoink".....
Hey, I think Daim/Chrys deserves a gold medal just for the pipes. It may not sound pretty, but I ain't never seen anything like that.
I'm just tryin to figure out, if you tried to do this with a W-12....

oooh, W-12. Now there's a powerplant I'd love to play with. I think it would make a good LMP engine, but it's CG might be too high. When the new ALMS rules were announced years ago, I wanted to design an LMP675 car around the VR6 engine. It's light, short, and they way the oiling passages are, you can tip it on it's side about 45 degrees

Now that's some good thinkin', Martin. Problem is, they're taking these magnificent engines and plopping them into behemoths that are bigger than the Graf Zeppelin! ...Like I would ever want a Maybach!

You're all squares, Chaz. As best I can tell, the engine is significantly detuned for the Passat application. Look at how fast the LMP 675 MG is - that thing damn near won Le Man overall!
What's killing me is that I've drawn the first concepts for a car that would certainly be competitive with anything - and it looks a lot like the Crawford, which is funny since Max Crawford and I worked together years ago.

Back at ya', Martin!
I would think that building a Le Mans car as an independent (non-factory) would be really hard. A serious bankroll would make it possible, I guess, but what a project!! However, I can't think of a more incredible achievement either.
Driving Le Mans must be a truly euphoric experience. Racing for an entire day! The marathon of car races...
Great thoughts! Puts a smile on my face! (and today I could really use that!!!!)
