Right now the dealer told me that my Cavalier actually has a timing chain and not a belt, and thus I do not need to replace it as I thought I did. (I'm still gonna check with my dad about that one!)

Right now definitely double check anything a American car stealership tells you!

Right now ask them if you can get earrings to match the chain? ... and tell them you had planned to get shoes to go with the new belt.
