Right now I just installed a new toilet in my main bathroom. It flushes so much better, the old toilet had flushing issues which needed plunging often.

When I took the old toilet off the drain, the drain underneath in the floor had heavy deposits stuck to it. Whitish scale like deposits with the consistency of wet sand, but stuck to the walls of the drain. I'd say 25% of the drain was covered, very weird. Our home isn't that old, and the toilet was last installed about 4 years ago. The drain is black ABS piping. I have no idea where the deposits came from. I had to scrape them off the inside walls of the drain and then I scooped it out the majority of the crud, and flushed the remaining bits down the drain. I got it pretty clean before putting the new toilet onto the drain.

But it is so good having a proper flushing toilet again. The simple things in life are most important, lol.

Hi Rob, some of those deposits did come out of the base of the toilet when I removed it, like from within the toilet trapway. Nothing in the upper tank of the toilet (the one which stores the water), but we did have some issues with scale and deposits inside the toilet bowl which I had break apart every so often , which also was weird. I've read that urine can leave scale deposits within toilet systems ?

That is weird, I would think that if it was coming from the water supply it would be in the tank. Are you on a well?
In looking it up if it's something from the people using the toilet there is something called Uric Scale, which is a new one on me, but that sounds like what you are talking about.

Yeah, it is definitely some kind of scale buildup. You know my wife has bladder issues that cause her to pee frequently, I swear she pees 15 times a day and throughout the night. I think I might pee 3-4 times a day and never at night.

White buildup should be calcium from hard water. The water sitting in the bowl will oxidize turning the calcium into a particulate and then building up.
