No. Not only that; I've never heard of him!

As I mention some time ago I grew up around football (Steelers & Browns) and even after moving to Michigan I never really appreciated hockey - although I went to a few games at the old arena. It wasn't until later in life when I was sick of watching the watering down of the pro-football teams. That plus bigger & better tv screens for enjoying hockey and better coverage and a better understanding of the game . . . and suddenly I was hooked. Better late than never.

for keeping the old hockey stories alive. Future generations will appreciate it when they learn about the defunct sport.

He's an icon in Canada (long dead). He announced games from the '40s to the '80s. I used to listen to him broadcast games on the radio when I was a kid and I had to go to bed before the game was done.

He coined the phrase, "He shoots, He SCORES!"

Of hockey, not the lockout.
