The Semi-Official Hockey Thread...
Great article Jed.
I don't want to see a reduction in teams; but wouldn't mind seeing Carolina and Florida move to better markets (Seattle and somewhere in Southern Ontario maybe?). I think someone just bought Anaheim so they're on solid ground again.

A week of 15 hour days... still no CBA. Obviously they're done sparring in the media though.

Great way to win and influence fans Jeremy!@
"If people are going to sit and chastise professional athletes for being spoiled and being cocky, they need to look at one thing and that's the deal that we are probably going to end up signing here in the next three weeks," Roenick said at the Mellon Mario Lemieux Celebrity Invitational.
"They'd better understand that pro athletes are not cocky. Pro athletes care about the game.
"Everybody out there who calls us spoiled because we play 'a game,' they can all kiss my (butt). They can all kiss my (butt) because we have tried so hard to get this game back on the ice."

Had an interesting weekend. I spent some time Friday night in a bar talking to John Zeigler. He sure stirred up contorversy as NHL President but I'd rather have him back than Bettman.
His POV BTW is that since they're quiet now the work is getting done. I saw him Sat too and he came over and said, 'don't worry, there will be a full season next year." Wishful thinking on his part but at least it's an educated guess.

As far as I have heard, there Will be a season next year. There seems to be an article about the negotiations in the sports section of the local newspaper almost everyday. From what I have been reading, they have pretty much settled on an agreement, but now have to tie up the loose ends to make it official. Since late May, they have been saying that the deal is near, and should be settled by Late June or Early July.
It's late June now, so I am eagerly awaiting the good news!
