I used to root for the Avs, but only when Roy played for them. Before he was traded to Colorado, I rooted for the Habs.
On a side note... I absolutely hate Edmonchuck. My buddy went out and bought an Oilers hat to wear around me, just to piss me off. I do like watching Smyth though.

Funnier still because I heard this term for the first time only yesterday on "Comedy Central: The Daily Show". I didn't think anything of it until your post. I had to Wikipedia the term. Not played in Canada under that name to my knowledge. In our neighbourhood we called "Smear the Hab".

Just flipping through my local paper, and I found this:
Alexander Ovechkin, who was first overall pick in last year's NHL entry draft by the Washington Capitals, has until 9pm to decide whether he will be joining the NHL this year, or whether he would like to put in another year in Russia with his recently signed 1-year deal with Omsk. Because of the recently scaled back salaries, Ovechkin can make more playing for Omsk than in the NHL.
Totally off topic, this was another article in the paper:

A local golfer at the ripe old age of 11 recorded 2 hole-in-ones during a round of golf! Both holes-in-ones came on the back nine. The first on hole 12, and the second on hole 16.

Our man Billy did paste in that he was a devils fan but didn't own up in his later post. That's okay... I'd be ashamed of being a devils fan too.
