Cherry is leaving HNIC?

I foresee massive ritual suicides in Canada.

As if losing the Cup wasn't bad enough, the Pens today lost Marian Hossa to the Red Wings in a one-year contract for $7.4 million. This is a great move for the Wings to get a potential 40-goal player who plays both sides of the ice. Hossa said he was more interested in winning a Cup, than money since he could certainly have done a better long term deal. I hope he gets his wish.

Ouch.

Even though he contributed to the Pens making it, Hossa is yet another example of the downsides of rental players. Brian Campbell comes to mind too. Lots of assets traded, nothing to show for it.
