The house progresses...at roughly the same rate as it beats the crap out of my relationship...

Seriously, renovating a house is NOT easy on a relationship, but both ARE progressing. Costs are high (with both), but so far things are manageable.

I'm meeting with a masonry contractor today to fix the fireplace and install a damper (and possibly a sleeve in the chimney as well as do some other minor tuck and point repairs to the masonry around the house.

I'm also going to spend some time with the plaster/drywall guy today outlining some of the framing and such that I want/need done that I don't have time to do. He's been going kind of slow to let me get work done, but I've got too much going with family (the kids and Robyn mostly) to give me much steady time down there to work.
Well I'm glad you guys are making it through as hard as it is. It will be worth it in the end. Nicole bought her house about a year ago. It was built in the late 70's and has not been remodeled since. For her, it's been quite an expensive endeavor both financially and mentally. Delays caused by unreliable contractor and other things beyond her control have caused her much grief recently. And there is a lot of work left.

Get a VERY good inspection done on the house. Speaking from experience, it's worth the money to find out ALL the issues with the house so you go in with your eyes wide open...

That's the plan. The inspection is Tuesday. The house appears fine, but I'm going to treat it like it's termites holding hands. Turn it upside down and flip it inside out.

I thought you were making an offer on a different house. This link is the one? Congratulations!!!
Yes, that is the correct house.

I made an offer on this one...

but it didn't work out. The sellers wouldn't budge on anything. I'm glad though, I got a good deal on this other house.

Reminds me of that tv commercial with that guy showing off his car, house etc with a silly grin. Then he says "want to know my secret? I'm up to his ears in debt." I can't remember what company was advertising.

I think it's one of those loan consolidation places.

Have you looked for a 1:18 loan? 1/18 of a monthly payment would be sweet!
