Semi-Official I'm Thread LVIII
I love my WRX, I have not found a single fault with it yet.
I'm thinking that is one impressive feat, I have not had my WRX out in that much snow, sounds like fun !. The most I have seen is about 12 inches. The WRX sits a bit low compared to many SUV's so if it can go that far in 3 feet of snow that is pretty darn good. That would be one fun snow plow.

I love my WRX, I have not found a single fault with it yet.Driving on ice scares me a bit with AWD, 4wd, and RWD as the rear end can get a bit squirrely if you hit a large patch or black ice. I haven't had my WRX on ice that much, I would like to get some practice on ice if we ever get an ice storm, maybe by going to a remote parking lot and tossing it around. FWD has never done me wrong in icy conditions they seem pretty tame for the most part.
Yup it feels better than the Honda AWD system I had on my HR-V, much more stable IMO.

One thing that I haven't experienced myself but looks like it works is the tires with studs or screws in them that they use on vehicles that ice-race.
I love driving in heavy snow, I have driven in one freezing rain storm that was the most crazy thing I have driven in, even if you know it is coming with advance warning. You are driving in perfectly dry weather, then it turns to a light wet rain, then all of a sudden you are on solid ice and all hell breaks loose. You can't stop, you can't steer, just hold onto your hat and hope for the best.
I'm thinking that is a brilliant choice as that's exactly what I did, lol. I traded in my 2017 HR-V EX-L AWD for a 2019 WRX sport tech, and I couldn't be happier. I really did not like the HR-V. I much prefer the Subaru AWD system to the HR-V system, the shifting of power back and forth on the HR-V didn't work as well IMO.
Only potential hitch is if there's enough space in the back for the puppers.
Going to a parking lot and getting a feel for it is a very good idea. In my experience nothing is good on the ice even snowmobiles don't stop or steer on ice, I have slid backwards down a few icy hills on a snowmobile.

I'm also noting I have studs on my winters. Haven't needed them this year, but they've been verrrrrrrry helpful the past couple years.
I'm noting when I got the HR-V I was living further up in the mountains so the WRX clearance probably wouldn't cut it. But I'm so borrrrrrrrred with the HR-V. And now I live in town and work mostly from home so it just makes sense to not deny myself a little fun.
