The unions are very weak. Most union jobs have good vacation plans, anyway.

I added the 'anyone else' part in as an afterthought - since I figured most unions would've had some sort of vacation deal going on.

Here I think some unions have more power than others...such is the nature of the best I guess.

The UAW is weak and inept. Their numbers are not large enough to command the prescence they had even 10 years ago. The UAW is concerned, at this juncture, about one thing: keeping the coffers full. The last thing the UAW is going to do is fight for benefits which help non-represented employees.

Who would fight for mandatory vacation? The people with no vacation tend to be the youngest, least educated, and poorest; as a group the least likely to vote as well.

Who would fight against mandatory vacation? Big businesses, which control the money flow in Washington and indirectly the votes as well.

We can't even get a bill to raise the minimum wage 10 cents. Welcome to Conservative-land.

and

Now, you're thinking to yourself, "Keerist, is one opinion 8D's and the other Coco's?"

No. . .

The union will fight for non-represented employees if there's something to be gained from it. Specifically, if there's something to be gained for the union-as-bureaucracy (read: lobster for union leaders). It could happen. . .

but yes, probably NOT going to happen anytime soon.

<--former union junkie, flunky, then got into "the inner sanctum" then got out.
