Default Serious Racing Question - Oinks welcome.

Okay... you might notice this post isn't in red.

I thought I'd ask a serious question. On a road track (like Laguna) what type of bike could an S2000 beat or challenge?

I pose the question because I'd enjoy the answers from a knowledgable group of friends AND because I've just read an article in a British racing mag that said F1 cars would kick the ass of world class bikes.

Remember to finish up all serious posts with a couple of oinks.

Oink oink,

JD

hmm, an s2000 wouldn't be able to beat any modern-day competetive bike at all. any of those rice rockets (even street ones) have so much of a lower hp/weight ratio that it makes the s2000 act like a diesel tank in comparison. especially with those hills at LS!!!!

I don't think we would have much of a chance the way productions bikes are going these days. My old mans ducati can break every speed limit in first gear alone.

The article I refer to says that while bikes can out accel by a small margin and only in some cases, the cars (F1) can kick their butts in the corners. It actually seemed to make sense.

In my car I also see that I can accel close to a lot of bikes and my some... that might be the rider.

Still... it's an interesting question.

Most sports bikes can do 0-100 kmh (0-60 mph) in 4 seconds quiet easily, however they do lose a little in cornering yes.

I've secretly always wanted to see someone try and race a Honda Goldwing.

You may remember from another thread that I often demonstrate my ability to out accelerate 50cc scooters

Hmm, am I qualified to answer this one?

F1 cars accelerate, brake, and corner at such high rates that comparisons to bikes are unreasonable. However, one of the glossy mags posted a comparison between a z-06 and a Yamaha r6 - it wasn't even close!

Off the top of my head, I was turning 1'57" laps at Daytona on my stock ZX7R. We qualified the Roush Racing Mustangs in the low 1'50" range, and raced in the 1'55" range for the 24hrs. And I'm not the fastest in my bike class, either!

What lap times do you think you could lap your S2000 at Daytona?

Peter's point (about the Goldwing) is a funny one.
