oh goodie, I thought you had forgotten about this

Let's learn basic sentence structure!

In Japanese, there is:

A wa B desu. (AはBです)
and
A wa B dewa arimasen.

What is the Korean equivalent?

Sorry ^^;

A wa B desu = A is B
example: Kore wa hon desu = This (kore) is a book (hon).

A wa B dewa arimasen = A is not B
example: Kore wa hon dewa arimasen = This is not a book.

it is very similar.

this is a book.

이것(This or this object)
은(same as "wa")??? <--- guessing
책(book)
입니다(same as "desu")??? <--- guessing

은 or 는 follows and supports a pronoun. you use 은 when the pronoun ends with 받침. For example, 미나(콩)

you use 는 when there is no 받침. For example, 미나(코)

you will come across 이 and 가 soon. they are similar to 은 and 는... its difficult for me to tell you when to use 은(는) instead of 이(가)

this is not a book.

이것 = this

책 = book
이 = similar to 은(는)
아닙니다 = is Not

이 is used when there is 받침

가 is used when there is no 받침
