I think I understand... maybe?

ui kinda reminds me of french "oui"

so "oe" would be "oh eh" unless it's by itself, then it's just "weh"?

yeah it's a lot like the french oui.

yeah, I think so. the consonant preceding may also dictate things.

I know it's complex, but it's no different than all the particulars we have in English (silent k, i before e except... etc etc)
