This whole thing is just ANOTHER fine example of the current administrations cavalier attitudes. It never ceases to amaze me their pompousness on thinking they have a clue on peoples actual beliefs!

I can't believe they held a special emergency joint session of Congress and president flew from Texas to Washington to deal with this. Don't they have more important things to worry about than a person who's been in a vegetative state for 15 years. This is pure political grandstanding with the conservative Christian right anti abortion fanatics. Bill Frist is a physician and should know better -- and, BTW, who wants to run for president in 08. This is a state's rights issue (smoething I thought Republicans were staunchly protective of) and should have stayed in Florida.

I have recent personal experience with this. In December, Anne Marie (Mrs. Raptor) had to make the decision whether or not to pull the plug on her Mother, who was in irreversible decline. She did it. It was her decision to make and hers alone -- not mine, not some judge's, not Congress's, and not the president's. This is all pure political bullshit!

Oh and... that affidavit wasn't introduced in court. Why? Probably because someone would be arrested for fraud or perjory.

This is getting a lot of coverage over here, the consensus seems to be to let the poor woman go.

It's funny that the same folks who want to keep her alive (because they say she's not brain dead) don't want to find a cure (as Mike points out about stem cell research).
