Dont worry in the next 4 years a special emergency session/referendum will be passed to allow 3 terms..... hopefully you should be able to vote against him by then!

It will be interesting to see how many living wills are set in place in America following this sad escapade.

Many I hope. Americans aren't the only ones who can be unprepared. My wife's uncle died in the UK without a will or a living will. He was single and without parents. The state took just about everything.

Happens in Canada too... all the time.

Are living wills recognized in the UK?

I'm sure she'd have gotten better if only she'd been allowed to live.

It's a difficult subject and for obvious reasons very topical at present.

As I understand, if I have stated my request formally, then my wishes can be adhered to. I am sure however that circumstances would prevent the safe timescales we've just with Terri. Our legal process system is far simpler for starters.

There is currently a case going through the Appeal Courts regarding a baby who doctors say is so ill she should not be resusitated again. The Courts so far have ruled in favour of the doctors, the parents have almost exhausted their appeals process.

My Mom has now torn up her living will - she said it'd be much more fun knowing that her sons would have to deal with all the crap when it's her time. My brother replied to her we'd never let it get that far, we'd feed her to the 'gators long before she had a chance to recover

You mom must be proud of you and your brother.
