Today my 90 day unlimited car wash pass ran out for the summer season. I would always wash it when raining or snowing as it was basically paid for so why not.

I remember it like it was yesterday, I know exactly where I was and where my wife was and my 6 month old son. I was driving home on a work trip and I heard these words from a local radio announcer - " The world trade centre buildings have been wiped off the face of the map" , it was an image I never could envision driving and just hearing that description. I was in a business meeting that morning just as the event was unfolding, and one of the guys joined in late and he was talking about a plane hitting a building and it must have been accidental etc. But no one really knew what was going on or the exact details, I didn't know what location he was talking about. When I thought of a plane hitting a building I thought maybe a small cesna or something like that. Then I heard the radio report on the drive home and once I got home I seen the images on TV. No words could describe what I was seeing.

There are some documentaries about Canada's assistance in accepting planes and people that morning and how Canadians welcomed all of the stranded travelers that were in the air as US airspace was closed down. It was quite the accomplishment on our side of the border.

Definitely proud of the Canadian contribution.

I also remember that day clearly. It was my first day of practicum at Toronto General Hospital and we watched the second plane hit live on tv. I feel really strongly that people were unnecessarily traumatized by that. I also remember how eerie it was that downtown Toronto was empty. Only a handful of people on the subway later that morning.

Today I stayed home and got some paint to use for our basement wall painting. We dropped one can on the driveway when we got home and the lid came right off, it wasn't closed very tight by the paint store ! About 3/4 of a gallon of grey paint spilled on our freshly sealed asphalt (black) driveway. What a mess. We got most of it cleaned up and washed away but the stains are still there, damn mess. We could only wash it down the driveway and street to the sewer using our garden hose, I was afraid the City would find out and fine us for this but we had no other option. I wish I had gone to work instead.

Oh yeah, you know that feeling then, seeing the lid fly off and the paint emptying onto the ground. Not a pretty sight lol
