I've never quite understood why people get excited about Voodoo shift knobs .... what is special about them ??

(I have never seen one in the "metal" so to speak - and no, this isn't a wind up, I am actually interested in what's special about them)

The Voodoo shift knob is cool to me because the shape is just so comfortable. I also like the heft of the knob versus the Nardi wood knob that came on the car.

Some people talk about how it shortens the throw, but to me it's more the feel...

Are they heavy ? what material is it made from ?

Have you driven an S ? Do you think the voodoo feels better than the standard in the S ?

I am also curious, brant. Did you go Ti or Al? I had a very heavy Aluminum knob on my BMW, similar to the voodoo (made by UUC). The roundness was nice, it was big, and the heaviness made for a very positive throw......

Billet aluminum. It's a roughly 2" diameter aluminum sphere. I can't remember the weight, but it IS heavier than both my stock wood shifter as well as the stock S shifter.

I've driven an S with both the stock shifter and a Muz shifter which is basically the same size as the Voodoo Magnum that I just bought.

I like the feel of the stock S shifter, as it's slightly "plump" for it's given height, but I just think the sphere fits my hand better for my shifting style. I tend to grab the shifter at about a 45 degree angle as opposed to straight from the top or like a pistol grip and the Voodoo just fits my hand quite naturally.

I didn't go with the ti, because I just can't justify spending $130 or so on a shifter for a car that only cost $5000...

I'm happy with my choice...

I don't care for the overhand shifting approach, as my fingers will shift. But using the palm of my hand make me feel like I've got a better connection. The S knob is a bit small for me, I feel like I'm gripping it with my thumb and forefingers.

I like rick's Ti knob becaue it's bigger and heavier.... but so is the price... these are made by Voodoo I beleive....

Just wondering, as my shift knob is pretty scratched up and I was considering going for one of the aftermarket ones ......

I wear a wedding ring and it scratches my knob when my hand moves too quickly ......
