If, almost three years ago now, I had to pay to play? I'm not quite sure I ever would have given this place a shot...something I would have regretted. The truth of it is you kinda have to be able to get your feet wet in The Corner before you're invited to swim.
As far as reputations go. The Corner definitely has had a bad one with some folks....something I think that has lessened to a great degree with the number of Corner Regulars that help organize their local S2k communities. I don't like Newbs f-ing with our "quality programming" (
), but I also think that just means we have to be more zealous about controlling how much crap they manage to pull before they get put in their proper place.
