Thanks Kathy. I actually contacted ChiS2K a few weeks ago, and he was very helpful. He even refered me to a thread talking about Chicagoland dealers (without asking me to do a search ).

Anyway, I went to the BMW dealer, pretty much knowing that I won't be buying the car. But I figured if I can walk away with an obscenely good deal (i.e., $24,000 ) I would take it. The manager told me he could auction the car off if he doesn't sell it in 90 days, and that's around January when convertibles are hot (January in Chicago is usually when its coldest, so I have no idea what he's talking about ). He took my contact though, saying that if he found something more suitable, like a wreck, he'd let me know. BMW dealers are the best!

All the more reason to be glad you didn't buy the car from him, Jack. Convertibles hot in January?? That guy is blowing smoke.

No need to resort to violence, now . There are a few BMWs that I really like. An old E30 M3 for instance. Even the E46 M3. When I have a family, if things go well for me, an M5 would probably be my sedan of choice. A Z5 is rumored to be BMW's S2000, what's not to like about that? And would I ever be able to afford a Z8?

So I might get a BMW in the future and I might not. If I do get it though, guess who I won't be getting it from?

What's a Z5, Jack (aside from Zaino swirl filler, that is)?

Jack says that the Z5 is BMW's answer (failure ) to the S2000.
