We apparently have an apple tree and the apples are ripe and taste OK. So that's one victory?

Do you have a sprinkler system ( that may sound like a dumb ? but in the PacNW some people THINK they won't need one due to all the

thats not true in the summer you DO need one and prolly need to adjust it

IF the yard doesn't have sprinklers then you best go buy an olskool that rocks the water back n forth like in the 70's

We have a sprinkler, as well as a Jeff's arm. We generally have no idea if we're over watering, under watering, or if it doesn't matter and the plants are just past their seasonal peak or whatever. The grass was burned up when we moved in; it's a bit better now but it's also August so whatever. But we have a bunch of flowering plants that we're lost on.

Oh and we have a ton of blackberry brambles invading our yard... they're the worst.

SOUNDS like your trying hard to keep things alive, like I said next time you talk to Nanc, she may have some suggestions for certain plants.
I look forward to seeing your house & yard someday :-)

oh and yeah blackberry’s can be very aggressive & tuff to get rid of :-(
