Wow, a whole page of semi-relevant on-topic discussion...

Good info, Iuke...

Your download speed : 732210 bps, or 732 kbps.
A 89.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 125019 bps, or 125 kbps.

(at home)

These numbers are pretty close to what I'm supposed to be paying for. I am testing this on 802.11b wireless, though. I should try this again from my hardwired LAN downstairs.

Iuke - what's the latency like on wireless? Is it as fast as a cat5?

You really won't notice any difference other than your overall top speed. CAT5e can run 10/100/1000 Mbps and it can also run full duplex so your potential speeds can be double. Wireless has an overhead so you don't acutally get the full bandwidth rating they advertise.

Am I answering what you are asking?

So Iuke explain to me (in laymen's terms) why I was told my new firewire web cam will run slightly slower on my wireless than if I used a wired cat5 node?
