Nice sig UnaB. I used to like Dune too. Then I read the second book, and then the third, and it just got really boring. I still like the whole idea, I just don't think I'm going to read any more of Frank Herbert's Dune stuff.

I was just thinking about how we always say "if you're not scared then you're braking too early" at the track and figured I should change my sig

That's a whole load of water, Jack! Folks in Cali might disagree with you
Sci-fi rocks! That's just about all I read in my 20's... That and Philosophy tomes like "A Critique of Pure Reason" by Immanuel Kant.
The sci-fi I understood!

Right after I graduated from college, before I got a job, I just read whatever I could find in the Chicago Public Library that seemed interesting.
I think I've read the entire 2001: A Space Oddysey series of books.

I had no frikkin clue what 2001 was actually about until I read the book. What's strange about that is that (I think) the book was written after the movie. Arthur Clarke did the screenplay (if you can call it that) with Kubrick first.
Anyway, that movie was amazing. I loved watching it (and still love watching it). Nothing like listening to the Blue Danube Waltz while the shuttle is coming and going from landing bay of the space station. Just fabulous.... It's also very funny to look at the "product placement" in that movie. Bell (which had the phone on the station) is gone. So is Pan Am, the shuttle's "airline".
HAL.... I want a computer like HAL (although I think I'd program him to be a little more predictable!

Have you guys all seen the Dune remake that came out either last year or the year before? It was a pretty good except Paul was the same age through the whole thing.
