The combination of pager and cell phone is the perfect thing. Have the pager on speed dial and you can page yourself from your pocket to extract yourself from a 'talker'.
Shit when I was on trauma call and the head resident on call I used to at times have 5 pagers. People thought I was important, but actually i was just trying to keep my pants up.
