I have more than three but we won't go into them. My kids know what they are.

Okay... I'll tell you one more. It's the pronounciation of 'cc' as 'ss'; as in 'assessrory' or 'flassid' (for Accessory and flaccid respectively). In english two c's are pronounced, 'ks'.

I'm particularly sensitive because in my industry there's a word (Accession) that's pronounced improperly all the time.

(Note: No one has ever said 'flaccid' as pertaining to me.)

actually, I never knew that about flaccid, John... Always thought it was "flassid". I'll remember that for the next time we meet.

(not that that word will come up in conversation)

:reconsiders using the words "come up":

It's really a fairly straightforward rule... 'cc' is pronounced 'KS'

Usually fashionable pronounciations corrupt the words. Then of course M-W has to include it in their version of what is a dictionary to apparently vindicate the villains who corrupted it in the first place.

Just for shite and giggles Joe... go check "nuclear" at www.m-w.com and listen to all three pronounciations. Yep, you got it... they include 'nukular' since as they put it, "as least one president" pronounces it that way. (Actually Eisenhower popularized it.)
