Looks like I better save a few pennies for tires down the road.

Are you going aftermarket, Luke, or staying with the Bridgestones? Just curious (not trying to get too hard-core in the Corner )

I really like the Bridgestones, but am considering the Toyo Proxes TS-1. They are supposed to have better wet traction and the same dry traction. I could really use better wet traction here in OR. However, ther is a HUGE price difference! I haven't found anywhere to buy the Proxes cheap, like buying the SO2s from Tirerack. Les Schwab wants $1200 for a set and mounting! I can get the SO2s for about $650 without mounting costs added in. So I should be able to get it all mounted for around $50 dollars. That's a $500 spread! I want to talk to the guys at Les Schwab for discounted prices as that's the only way I would switch.....or some sort of qaruntee they'll last twice as long as my SO2s. Some people here have switched to the SO3s, but they don't have as good dry traction. I push my car to the limit often as you can see by how fast mine wear out compared to others. I don't want to sacrafice the better grip. Guess I'll just still have to putt along when it's wet.

I think S03's would be a good tire for you, Luke - the dry traction is pretty darn good, and the wet is excellent. Myself, I went for Ecsta's - I don't care about dry traction, as I never push the car hard on the street (that's what Hoosiers are for).

Thanks for the concern! I know just how slippery they are from expierience! New ones should be on before the next rain.

Oh, but the traffic in the bay area, John...

There's always a price to pay.
