Women priests
JonBoy,
When in need of making a decision, we both have equal input. We have been together 11 years and and have 7 children 2 SUVS and 1 S. We also own our own business so we work with each other. We see eye to eye on many things, because we have the same values and morals, and we have a respect for where the source of those values derive. Ok enough PCness, when it comes down to it, what I says goes. I know that sounds very male chauvinistic, but it is what it is. I am the head of my household, and one day it will be me who stands before God to account for my role as such. Something that I have to remind my wife every so often when I make a decision that she does not agree with.

Without changing subects to much, and I know you meant the "Be fuitful and multiply" lightheartedly, but I always took that as a direct command from God. I also take marriage as a direct command from God. What are your thoughts on that?
JonBoy,
Thanks for taking the time to thoughtfully respond. I hope many people are still reading this because I think this is info that is beneficial to all. On that, I agree with you in regards to your view of children and the high value that God places on them in the Bible. I have heard the argument that because the earth had few inhabitants, God said "go forth and multiply". However this was/is a command from God. He didn't say, hey the earth is desolate, so have some kids so there can be more people. He simply stated "go forth and multiply" . If He said this as a command, then it applies to all. I think the greatest way to proclaim God's glory is to have more children. I think we need to remember that "our children" really belong to God just like everything else and we have been blessed to take care of them. I am very impressed with your view on birth control. I agree that the Bible does not speak of birth control, but I don't belive that it is in God's will. God has made people unable to have children from the very beginning for reasons that we can't compared. Also, considering that birth control is man made in an effort to not"complicate our lives", we need to re-examine this in our life. Children are not are burden, they are a blessing. I think in regard to your own situation, God will let you know when it is time.
Then issue of marriage is also an interesting one. First, let me start by saying that I believe that marriage is what I think the Bible wants from all of us. I know that this is something controversial of a belief but hear me out.....
In the first case of marriage, Adam and Eve, prior to creating Eve, God says "it is not good for man to be alone". Now, considering that God could have given Adam anything, He choose to give him a woman. I think that speaks volumes about marriage. Also I could give you a number of verses that all praise and exalt marriage and how God favors marriage. I also noticed the names of the bachelors you selected and two stand out to me. Jesus and Paul. Jesus for obvious reasons. While He as fully God and fully man, He could not have been married because He had no equal on earth. Before I talk about Paul, let me respond about the other men you mentioned. God has a will that is constant and applies to all. He also has a will that applies to us individually. Sometimes we follow it and other times we don't. I don't believe that people are any lesser than anyone else because they did not marry, but I do believe that marriage is part of God's will for all and for whatever the reason we don't always submit to God's will. So that would be my response for those men you brought up. Now back to Paul.... many people bring up Paul's comments on remaining single as he, and other things he wrote about in his epistle to the city of Corinth. Remember that Corinth was essentially the Las Vegas of the time. Prostitution, gambling, fornication, and just about every fleshly desire was the "religion" of the day. Paul was warning them about not marrying, because of the state they were in, they would most likely not be able to honor God's commandment to be faithful in marriage. So Paul asked them to remain single as he until they could get their act together. Also, I believe that Paul himself was married. He was a widower when he began god's work. Hear me out know.......
Paul was a person who wrote of what he experienced firsthand. He gave a lot of advice on marriage and how to treat each other. Strange from someone who was never married. Also, Paul was a member of the Sanhedrin(sp). As perhaps the unabagler could verify, one of the requirements of being an elder of the Jewish group at the time was being a married man. This is found in the book of Acts.
I hope this was interesting and look forward to any comments, questions or charges of insanity......
