I agree that Clinton f****d up but PLEEEASE look at the issues involved: an extramarital affair compared to inaction over an impending national disaster. Do you REALLY think Clinton's was the bigger issue??

The point also is "What did Bush do to prepare after he was warned that the levees were in danger of breaching?" and the answer is: he went to a birthday party, campaigned and played guitar. And he only did that because he had already read My Little Goat on 9/11 when he also sat and did nothing.

Face up to it: Bush has stumbled and fallen flat on his face each time a crisis or emergency has come up. Why? Ignorance and incompetence. The man simply is not qualified to be holding the most powerful position on Earth. He's in way over his head. Period. And he is dangerously out of touch with decisions that are made for him e.g. selling ports to the Arabs.

And he has some gall to be telling the American people that we are too dependent on oil. That SOB and his family laugh all the way to the bank on our oil dependence. I do not see him rushing to push for alternate fuels...he just talks it.
We built the atom bomb within three years of conception but we can't develop alternate fuels?? Come on now......

VISION

The Orleans Levee District is to be a proactive, public orientated, fiscally responsible, ethical and highly respected flood protection and service organization.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Orleans Levee District (the District) and its Board of Commissioners were established by Act 93 of the 1890 General Assembly (Legislature) of the State of Louisiana. The District is primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of levees, embankments, seawalls, jetties, breakwaters, water basins, and other hurricane and flood protection improvements surrounding the City of New Orleans, including the southern shores of Lake Pontchartrain and along the Mississippi River. The District is responsible for the maintenance of 129 miles of levees and floodwalls, 189 floodgates, 97 flood valves, and two flood control structures. To enhance flood protection, the District, and the United States Corps of Engineers (USACE), participate and cost share in several joint flood protection projects relative to the Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity Hurricane Protection Plan (LPVHPP).

Act 292 of the 1928 Louisiana Legislature authorized the District to dedicate, construct, operate, and maintain public parks, beaches, marinas, aviation fields, and other like facilities.

Looks like it wasn't Bush's responibility to maintain the levees.
