So with the wi-fi card u dont have to subscribe to any service other than hoping on ur network right??

Wi-Fi is definitely cool. As soon as I sort out my current financial mess I'm investing in wireless for my home office for something new to play with.

Correct. I can browse the Internet, stream audio, use MSN instant messanger, or even attach through a VPN if I want.

You can also access files right off of computers. I copy MP3s all the time.

settled I am buying a tungsten with built in Wi-Fi tonight!!!

OK.....I'm going to throw a wrench in your works. With built in wireless, you will be stuck with that technology. That's OK if you never plan on wanting high speed wireless. It's already emerging and it will be mainstream for people soon. Keep that in mind.

I'm glad the Dell is external for two reasons. One is what I just mentioned...more up-to-date upgrades. My other reason is because of a specialized Wi-Fi card I will need once I get my wireless sniffing software.

Hmmmm...I dont think its an issue for me #1 it has two expansion ports (I forget which kind) and #2 I usually only keep my PDA's for a few years.
