The best I've been able to do to explain the Corner is to liken it to a "lodge." Not that I belong to any lodges, but it's a social environment basically designed around the concept of bullshitting.
What everyone seems to have trouble with (same as you said James) is that without a physical connection, like being in the same room together, they don't understand how friendship is possible.
Well, I guess it does require being part of the experience to really know.
To bad for the folks who miss out, eh?

more important than space, is bandwidth ---> i have a small forum of my own. My server space is a fraction of the bandwidth I use. And I can really understand now what cthree and everyone must juggle, AND I have a newfound respect for the bandwidth issues. We have it so good in the corner for them allowing us a (i assume) sizeable percentage of the s2ki pipe.
here's one for you: when was the last time there was a serious discussion in s2000 talk about the bandwidth all those guys use asking about CAI's, or all the bickering about whether or not the latest s2200 photo is photoshopped
