In all seriousness (well, as much as I'm capable of, anyway ), the only way to be prepared is to be selfless. You have to be completely solid in your own worth and ready to put your needs on the shelf for a (long) while.

There is much that's wonderful about being a dad, and much that isn't. Anyone who doesn't think they've "had their fun" will be very sorry when the time comes. That's my opinion.

Marriage is a big step, but it's nothing compared to the life changes that kids bring.

OK, time to get off the soapbox and take a hit of JT's ....

I also think that my friend has had more than his fair share of fun and he is just about ready to settle down anyway ....

Just keep him supplied with sufficient Newcastles, and all will be well.

 

They have agreed that he will have at least one night each week and so will his wife ... seems like a good compromise to me .... and that way, I get to keep my drinking partner
