Default Alignment question and rubbing issue!

I lowered my car, slapped on 7.5x18" front and 8.5x18" back... I got it aligned and then realized after putting my front bumper back (had to for the alignment), that the dumbass tire shop put the driver side tires on the wrong wheels!! As follows: driver front 8.5inch rim with 40 width tire AND 7.5inch rim with 35width in back!!

The car was aligned with the CORRECT tires in the correct positions (narrow in front on wide rim and wide in back on narrow rim if you follow)!!

So my question in a very pissed off tone was... who's gonna pay the 100 balls to get my car realigned as this was clearly their f*** up!? The very impartial and non involved tire changer, told me that because the tires were in the right places that this wouldnt change any of the alignment tweaks that were already done... Someone give me an opinion please!! I just dumped a lot of cash on the 050's ... conversely the other garage the specializes in alignments told me more or less the same thing... my biggest issue... I don't wanna take that freakin bumper off again since I just got it repainted (forget that its a pain in the ass).

OK and my Edited OTHER question is about rubbing... Evolution assured me that with the 18" Volks I got with a +47 offset in the rear and the 1.3 inch lowering springs (Espelir) that rubbing wouldn't be an issue... unfortunately it is... does anyone have a similar set up or any suggestions... I'm up for anything on this issue...I'll even consider rolling my fenders but I dont know the FIRST thing about doing it!

i sent you a pm becasue i think you are totally wrong on the idea of tire sizing.

tire sizing is in example

225/ 40 r 18 255/ 35 r 18
width/ muliplier r rim size width/ mulitplier r rim size
of width= of width =
sidewall size sidewall size

the 35 and 40 size on the tire is related to the side wall. the width of the tire is the first number. go to www.tirerack.com and do some research before you cause trouble and do not know what the numbers mean.

Just PM'd you back and I hear what you're saying...but the set up was still wrong ... ie. 225 was on the driver front with the 8.5inch rim and 255 was on the back with the 7.5 inch rim.... it was obviously wrong as you could tell the wide tire was on the rim marked 7.5 and the narrow (225) tire was on the rim marked 8.5... you're right, i was wrong on which number i thought identified width ... but the wrong width was still on the wrong sized rim...

If they screwed up they should pay! Bottom line! IMO it should be realigned at their expense! Talk to the shop owner ...let him know you are part of a car club and everyone will no of his/her inability to right a wrong!

They swapped everything back the way it should be... so that problem is solved and I'm going to get the alignment re-checked... but I have new question in a new thread.... fender rolling!?

Check the Mid-A forum. They either just had a "fender roll day" or are going to have one soon. Poindexter was the point man.

If you check my sig, you'll see my setup. My car is NOT lowered (and it'll probably stay that way), and the fronts rub only very slightly when I hit a hard dip or big bump mid corner. Usually, the wheel has to be turned for this to happen. I've noticed there isn't a whole lot of gap to begin with, and lowering the car and using wheels with a smaller offset will only increase the likelyhood of rubbing. I think it's very hard using off the shelf offsets to eliminate rubbing. There are people on the site with custom offsets, and that usually costs more $$ and takes more time.

My sister's boyfriend just had the fenders rolled on his Mazda 6, and he said it worked well. The process of fender rolling generally involves "rolling" (bending) the metal lip on the wheel well up into the wheel well to eliminate clearance issues. It would be easy on the rear wheels, but the fronts on our car have a plastic guard on them that would get in the way. I'm sure someone has worked around this, so chime in if you're that person.
