Its not the gears. My valves where really bad.

What's all this noise about Valve Adjustments? Is this mandatory stuff? I've heard nothing of this yet please help the newbie.

not mandatory but a good thing to do. Bill recommended it after 10k miles

I'm going to try and host another mod / tech day spring / summer again. I've got all the stuff to do a valve adjustment as long as someone knows the "resistance feel" for the proper spaceing.

Ah I see...

so...what is this all about again? is this to recover lost power?

You need those spacers like bill has.

What happenes over time is tha the valves become lose and when the cam lobe hits them they dont move as far as they should. They also dont stay open as long as they should. My car had 70k on it so I prob noticed it alot more then someone with low miles.

got it. feels good to not have any valves. of course, instead of going through all that mess of periodically adjusting the valves, we jsut throw away the motors every 30,000 miles
