Default Clutch

Alright... my clutch definantly felt weird a couple weeks ago, where it would seem like the car would lag a bit while shifting at redline, but wasn't really "slipping."

As some of you guys know, this past weekend my clutch was kinda smelly as Ed was romping on it on the way to WC, and he said it was slipping a bit. Today on my way to work I tried letting it out on 202, definante clutch slippage. The power is just not there, and the rpms are now shooting up way high when I go into the power band. Normal driving isn't really bad, but I need to get it in sooner than later for a new clutch. I hate this feeling.

I did a search of different clutches, and I think the OEM one will be fine for me, as I don't really track the car now... but would like to get into auto crossing possibly at some point in the future. Is there another clutch you guys would recommend other than OEM? I know while everything's out I'm def. going to have the flywheel looked at. And alot of people were talking about how our pressure plate is too weak. Should I get one other than OEM?

Looks like I'll be driving around the beater here soon while it's in for repairs.

A clutch should be able to be turned in a day from any shop. Sorry to hear about this, a lot of people seem to go after market. They grab a little better from what I read, ask Dain, I think he put an after market in. Good luck.

from what I have read, having a ACT pressure plate and OEM everything else is the way to go.

Heather, I went with the HTG clutch kit. ACT pressure plate, OEM disc, and Lightweight flywheel. At the time I bought the kit, HTG included a Comptech Flywheel. I think he includes a different Flywheel now.

If you want we can meet up sometime and you can take my car for a spin and see what you think about it.

I can also recommend a shop in the area that did my clutch swap.

How is it daily driving? I might have to take you up on your offer.

I'll prolly end up getting my friend Joey at Honda to swap it for me soon if he's not too busy. I'd rather get it done sooner than later as I know how they can just "go."

What do you think install costs would run on something like this?

I don't mind it daily driving at all. I actually prefer it. The clutch is a bit more stiff then stock but not nearly as heavy as my old mustangs. I tought my fiance on this setup and she didn't complain about anything (tho she doesn't have any experience on a lighter clutch ).

If you plan on doing some auto-x and drag strip runs, I'd go with with the ACT PP plate as it grabs quite it bit harder/faster. Personally I love the light weight flywheel as well.

Let me know if you want to meet up. I can meet you where ever.

I had the clutch replaced a couple years ago so I don't remember exactly but I think it was between $400-500. I took it to a transmission specialist and it only took a day.

honda calls for 6 hours to do a clutch, figuring garages usually charge around $60-70 per hour. If your mechanic has never done one, I'd suggest you take it to the honda dealer, they are a bitch to do. My mechanic had to undo the motor mounts and jack up the motor to get the tranny out, everything is so damn tight under there.

the only other thing is, Honda will more than likely not install something aftermarket.
