Default Compression Test

Ok, so I changed my spark plugs (75k miles) this weekend and decided that while I was at it, why not do a compression test. The car was "warm" when I did the test. I followed the DIY and these were the results I got (each result is an average of 3 tests per cyl)...

Cyl 1 -- 251
Cyl 2 -- 250
Cyl 3 -- 242
Cyl 4 -- 253

Isn't a "normal" reading supposed to be 228? Now I know results can change from tester to tester but should the readings be that high? Also, should I be concerned that Cyl 3 was that much lower then the other 3?

The spark plugs looked pretty normal. They did however have some burn marks on the white porcelain part...Anyone have any insight on this or should I just shutup and go back to my hole?

It says here 240 is the magic number, which is about what I thought was normal.

You're not far enough off to be of any worry. And #3, while lower, is not bad enough that I'd worry either (3.2% deviance).

I was just a bit surprised the #'s were as high as they were considering the milage on the motor and the fact that I don't exactly "take it easy" on her. I know a leakdown test is a better indicator of things but I just don't have the equipment to do that on my own...yet...
