Exaust heat chip my paint job
I don't know if anyone have this problem but, the heat from my exaust causes my paint to chip after cetain period of time. Can that amount of heat really chip or crack the paint job? It only chip around the exaust area. What can i do to protect it from chiping beside getting it paint over and over again? With any idea will be greatly appreciated. Thanx

if the tips are really close to the bumper, i hope thats what your talking about, there are metal caps that you can buy and place in the arches above the tips to absorb/reflect the heat...idk where to get em but one of the sponsors had em for sale...hope this helps you...by the way what exhaust do you have

I have spugen dual ti. it fit just right. The kit is fiberglass and i have the car lower but not enough to say it hit the ground on any bump. Its the only thing i can think of to make all the chip and crack is the heat from exaust tip. Its not a factory paint but had it painted to match the color (Tri-color Spa yellow)
Sparrow, what is the metal cap call and where can i get it from?

while the heat can attribute to the cracking, without some kind of outside force being applied to it (or unless it was a crappy paint job) the paint still should not just crack under heat. Maybe see if there's a way to brace more near the exhaust point as well as some sort of heat shield, or even see if there is a more flexible paint that can be used (I have very little experience with painting cars so I don't know if there is anything like that for this kind of application).

True, having just swapped my exhaust (*cough* twice) I was surprised to find out just how much play there is with the exhaust hangers. While they are stiff rubber, they are also pretty long which lets the exhaust move side to side and up and down close to an inch.
