I am getting no love from the Electronics forum.
I just want an idea of where/how to mount the Sirius transmitter/unit.
any thoughts?

I think I can lend you my opinion as I have the same setup all but the headunit. I "mounted my tuner/interface up under the passenger side dash, there really isnt any other place to put it especially behind the radio.
As for the antenna, I mounted my antenna in the middle of the trunk, but right along the front edge facing the window and fished the line through the holes in the trunk lid and zip tied it to the factory wires running down the left trunk arm. You can remove some of the panels behind the passenger seat to get the antenna cable ran to the front.
It's not really that difficult to do...

Did you remove anything or just mounted them underneath the dash?
Does anyone else have their antenna in another location?

there is a plastic crossbeam under there that you can mount stuff to. the guy who owned my car had some weird handsfree phone system wired and mounted under there. it was all ziptied and velcroed nice and neat under than panel, dont be afraid to give it a tug

If its the new sirius units, you should have the jvc adpater box along with a scc1 tuner box. The ideal place is as mentioned, under the passanger dash. The panel will pop off with some slight prying. Take it easy the first time the clips will break if you pull at funny angles. Use a plastic pry tool which will also help with the radio door removal the first time.
Once the panel is off, there is a good amount of space there. I found it easier to put the unit up towards the passenger side vent. You can actually push it up high into the dash. Its a good idea to wrap the units in carpet to prevent rattling behind the dash.
Another possible location would be under the passenger carpet. You can lift the main carpet up towards the firewall and there is some space there to mount the unit as well. Also, if you JVC cable is long enough, there is always plenty of room behind seat panels left and right of the glove box.
The Sirius antenna does not need to be outside the car since its a convertible. Most cars it is recommended on the trunk lid, but the signal can be received through plastic or cloth. I had mine mounted in my hidden compartment facing up on a little L bracket. Also, you can try under the passenger A pillar where it meets the dash, but same thing. You will have to find a way to keep it facing up. I have not tried this location with my Sirius, but my GPS antenna is there and the signal is fine. Be careful running the sirius antenna, the wire is very fragile. If it is kinked or twisted, it may stop working. Normal life of these antennas outside the car is only 1 to 2 years. Thats one of the reasons I preferred to keep mine in the car. Also, Sirius reception cuts out under heavy tree cover, under passes, garages, and if you sneeze to hard anyway. I hear they are combining satellites shortly anyway so it should become better soon.

sorry for the broad picture, but if you look close, i mounted mine right in the dead center of the dash under my radar detector, look right next to the top of the tassel.
