but the plastic windows are larger than the glass, unless the plastic folds...
Yes, the plastic window folds right smack in the middle...and over time makes a nice mess of itself

I may be 1 out of a thousand to say this but I actually like the plastic. It is a convertible and most classic roadsters tops are plastic. But of course that is just my $.02.

...I had 2 identical wear holes on my top.. .....There is a 9 page thread with details, and pictures of other MY 2000 and 2001 owners with the same exact wear holes. Various opinions on what is causing these holes (I have my own theories)

Honda has no set policy on this..YET....they are all over the place with whether/how much they contribute to the repair or just deny it. Bottom line is ....squeaky wheel gets the oil
Thanks Mike....I was wondering how this turned out By coincidence, I showed my dealer the emerging hole when I had 60k service done last Friday (not yet through the fabric but there is a visible light leak).

Guess what! Even though I have the 7 yr/100k warranty, the service mgr told me this is excluded as a 'wear' item Your info and the link should help me to also pursue in the future. Would you mind PMing me the name of the person that you contacted at Honda?

Maybe I should adhere a patch over that spot

I will give Honda that the top is a wearable part BUT

#1. No way a cloth top should wear out in 2-3 years....ask any upholstery craftsman...a decent top should last AT LEAST double this time if well maintained.

#2. it is clearly and obviously wearing from the inside-out due to improper design of bare metal rubbing the cloth (obvious by the frayed fabric on the inside)

Dont take the svc mgrs NO...tell him you want an appointment to see the regional CSR...and that you know this is a known issue and expect some good will from Honda...He is at your dealer once a month!...I am guessing it is the same guy...I have his card at work PM me tomorrow for the info

Weight was the primary concern when the car was first designed. The S was to be as close to a bare bones race car, for the street, as could be made. Now the dreadful sound system in the original cars-that was to save a buck!

I went through the same top scenario a year ago. Same wear holes with 50K on the car. Honda paid for a new top and I paid for the labor. The dealer didnt do squat to intervene with AHM and agreed at first to modify the frame to accept an 02 top then backed off. Former 37 year customer who bought an 04 from Hardtopguy in April and I rub it in every time I see the dealer on how much less I paid for better service. Dont buy from Union Park Honda in Wilmington. Similar treatment on my engine failure.
