I might move to Pittsburgh
I hope this is the right forum... I got accepted into Carnegie Mellon's Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate program. I got a full ride and a research assistant position so I am seriously considering going to CMU. I've lived in CA for 26 years so I want to find out what Pittsburgh is like before I commit to going there.
How is the weather? Does it snow much? What is a good area to live? Ideally, I'd like to find a place with a garage so that I can park the S2000 inside. How is the city life? I live in a very boring city in the Silicon Valley
And the most important question, what are the nearby tracks?
I'd appreciate any other information about the Pittsburgh area.
I will be in Pittsburgh in early April so if there are any owners in that area that want to meet up, let me know. Thanks.

I've only been to Pittsburgh about 10 times over the past 7 years and I can tell you that it seems to get better each time. The city itself is under going a good revitalization. With a two new sports stadiums and new business moving down town it looks like Pittsburgh is moving in the right direction. Does it snow? Yes my guess in an average winter about 20". But that is not the bad part. The whole city is one big hill. My cousin graduated from Carnegie Mellon with computer something or other. He loved the school and the local atmosphere including Pitt. Pittsburgh has come a long way since it's steel days. Best of luck to you. - Reese -
By funny coincidence, I just noticed a new Allegheny club has been started. You should probly re-post there and get some contacts
Our DV club really only goes out to central PA....and Pittsburgh is another 300 miles to the west! BTW, Carnegie Mellon is a great technical school and Pittsburgh has really been re-born in the last 10-20 years. Good luck on making your decision. Here's a link:
