My wife works as a parish nurse, a newer specialty (health advisor/wellness educator/ spiritual counselor)....loves it....which is good b/c she earns <$20/hr PT. OTOH, my dtr earns about $25/hr in an underserved area of Boston....works PT for expense money while in grad sch. Yes, both could make more....but they made a choice for job satisfaction.
