Default OEM wheel refurb recommendations?

My '03 GPW badly needs work done on the stock wheels....14 years of wear and tear/ 97k miles of curb abuse, etc.

Would appreciate suggestions of local shops that would take a look and advise me on options. West suburbs would be great, but in Philly also OK.

OR, if someone has a set of stock AP1 wheels in excellent condition sitting in their garage, then I might be interested in a purchase/ swap + cash/ whatever....

IMHO, find a stock set that someone has had lying in their basement for 20 years. Getting yours refurb'd will likely be cost prohibitive.

Also, stop smacking curbs.

Check the prices. You can upgrade to 17" wheels with reproduction AP2V1 wheels for about $130 each. Good reviews here. Larger tire choice.

Did you find a set yet? I'm moving soon and getting rid of stuff. Was just about to post mine for sale for $100.

Complete set of AP1 wheels. They were media blasted (I was going to paint them), but stuff came up and I ended up never painting them. Been sitting for years. Come with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 tires. Rears are even with the wear bars. Fronts have camber wear on the inside corners, but are probably at least 50% otherwise. Flip them and you'll get a few thousand miles out of them easily.

Regarding price: As noted a set of NEW reproduction AP2V1 17" wheels will bolt on any year S2000 and are an upgrade for the 16" wheel models (unless you're trying for a 100 point car). $130 each the last time I looked. Wider selection of performance tires in 17".

I paid $175 last month to have one (1) of my AP2V2 wheels refinished and that was a "standard" price at Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists here in town so figure on that same price for your 16" wheels. Just takes a phone call. They'll finish then in ANY color. I refinished to OE color. Note that links to the Philadelphia shop (which I can't vouch for), not the Richmond shop where my work was expertly done.

So, that's $520 for reproduction 17" wheels (and you still have your 16") vs $700 to have yours refurbished. I know what I'd do but it ain't my car.
