Hey guys!

Some of you probably have no idea who I am but I just wanted to pop my head in and say hi. I've been getting emails about nominating and voting for new CO's and I just wanted to say I cannot vote as I have been very inactive in the car communities of late and honestly have no idea who the nominees are.

Back in the day (circa 2002-2006) Gennaro, Brooke, and myself used to run a little path we called Squirrel Nutz. We used this board to connect with Paulie, Scott, Buzz, and a few others and used to have quite a bit of fun. Over the years we've all gotten older, had our balls taken away, or just in general had life get in the way.

After I ditched my WRX for my 2nd Porsche I got pulled into the PCA and have been struggling to find time for that even. So my car event schedule has been very very thin. My wife *cough* made me *cough* join her in our wedding photography business and that has just snowballed into an additional full time job but don't get me wrong, I would never complain about success, I'm just explaining where all my time has gone.

We did pick up an awesome gig through the PCA. Laura and I have been the official photographers for Princeton Porsche for the last 2 years. Here's a small sample of some work I've done for them http://lauraeaton.com/cars/

So to Jerry, Paulie, Mike, Jen, Charlie, and anyone else I've forgotten to mention "Hey!" I hope you are all doing well and life has given you all you need + a bit of time to hit that 9k limiter you guys loved so much! Keep in touch, I might be around one of these days!

Thanks! As one of the few OGs left, I have to make sure I'm accounted for.

To paraphrase a Pulp Fiction line
"My wife's all Canon, so that kinda makes me all Canon"

So yeah we're a Canon shop. If you want to know what's in my bag here's what I carry around:
5d MkII
1d MkIII

24-70 2.8 L
70-200 2.8 IS L
50 1.0 L
85 1.8

I have a bunch of older bodies as well and a 40d that I hate so I'm gonna put it up for sale on a photo forum.

*chuckles* What a coinkydink.

Very nice glass you have there. Just sell the bodies and glass and get a 500hp forced induction setup and some wheels. jkjk ;-)

I shoot with a 1st gen 5d. Got the 50mm f/2.0 & 24-70 f/2.8.

I bet that 85mm 1.8 puts out some gorgeous portraits. *chuckles* Btw, 1puresol and I are big off camera lighting fans. Pocketwizards, SB-24.... Got ourselves a fun setup.

I used to have a 30d and it really wasn't that bad. Doesn't quite have the dynamic range of the 5d, but it's way lighter for wedding shoots than a 5d with a bge2 grip. So I assume that you and your wife do weddings with a second shooter using the 24-70 and 70-200? Seems like a good way to go.

The wife has all of her own gear. She still loves her 30d, and she has a 5d MkII but she's still not a fan of it.

I do like the stuff I can get with the 85 and I've tried the 1.2 a few times and loved it. It's definitely my next lens purchase whenever I stop being lazy and just order the damn thing.

Lighting is key to any and all good photos. I pack at least 2 580s for all shoots. I actually leave for WPPI in Vegas this weekend and hopefully the new pocket wizards that are suppost to come out at the show are the new gadget to have. If you like using ETTL for off camera, check out radio poppers. I got to demo them for a magazine and they rocked. Can shoot 1/8000 and get sync.

As for trading it all in... there's only 2 cars that would prompt me to do so... an 09 Cayman S or a 993 turboS.

It's cool to see car folks with decent cameras too!

*chuckles* I'm more of a hobbyist, with some shooting on the side so I can't go all out like you, but that's pretty nuts. Off camera light with 1/8000? That's nuts. I had no idea that that kind of option existed.

I actually don't use ETTL. I shoot with a bunch of Nikon SB-24s on my canon. hehe. I just uttered the unthinkable.... =P I should get a 580ex though...

Some of us OG's remember the SqNutz runs fondly but I'm glad that "life" is working well for you! The s2k del val community has gotten a lot larger and it's all good. Paulie is still around occasionally but I think he's S-less at the moment. Charlie, Mike and I were all together in early January at Zippy's annual MWG in south Jersey.....a nice gathering.

As an alum, you're certainly welcome to any of the s2ki events....we accept an occasional Porsche Some older s2k guys around the country have even migrated to the Cayman/S...

That guy who posted above...Gary....not sure who HE is ?????

Jerry
