Default PHILA watch out!

Our campus (La Salle) just got cleared of a lockdown that was in place for a few hours. A gunman shot a police officer in the head at a Dunkin' Donuts this morning (Broad and 66th) and has been on the run since (carrying at least 2 guns, his own, and the downed officer's). All schools in Phila are on alert.

Last night I was at the First Unitarian Church seeing the band in my sig, and we saw at least 30-40 police cruisers zooming west down Walnut/Sansom towards 23/24 and Chestnut. I'm sure most of you heard, at least two civilians were shot and one officer was shot in the shoulder before the suspect jumped into the Schulkyll.

Just be careful out there!!

I used to work in the 14th district (right next to LaSalle) and that dude could be anywhere in those neighborhoods. Keep your eyes peeled and stay alert when you're out.

There are still helicopters out basically pinned in one location north of our campus. I don't know why so many shootings have taken place recently.

I don't think I have enough time to go over the reasons.

the crime rate in this city is absolutely revolting...

no wonder travel and leisure magazine named philadelphia the most uncivilized, unstylish, and narrowminded city in the country!

my heart remains in the city (lived there all 34 yrs of my life, until 6 months ago), but its just plain embarrassing these days

too bad for the kids in that area...no trick or treating..

I agree, and you guys see only whats on TV! Ive have grown up here, and work the streets every day.(the ones you would never run your Ss down even in broad daylight!) Ive never been afraid doing my job, but have gained enough to know I would rather have my family far from here! When I was a kid, I left out after breakfast, my mom said bye! and was home at dinner. Now, My kids never leave my sight! Unfortunatly medics for the fire dept. get paid very, very well here! like no-ware else! Ideally I could just start again somewhere else, but cant do it on a 50% pay cut! Im sucked in! stuck! This is how I can afford an S with three kids!!! As much as I love my S, it would be gone if I could leave here and make my family feel safe 24/7! I think Ive thought of everything any help!
