my vote is no to the 2jz, keep the S as is and either stroke it or go FI

Have you checked out that crazy F24C build in the NA forum?

It's making about 300whp with ITB all NA. That's something you might want to consider.

honestly though, an sr20 would be different but in terms of power wise, for some odd reason our motors handle so much more power. I've seen built 240s have 400+ hp, but its not as daily driveable with the same amount of power as the s2k.

after i looked up the sr20 i noticed the same thing. i'd be putting the same if not more money into it just to get the power i could get with a SC and a good tune. i can get the 2jz engine it just won't come with the turbo on the engine i found but it came with the engine (needs rebuild) and tranny and ECU and harness for about 3500 which is a great deal in my eyes. the shifter being six inches back i can deal with and the firewall being chopped is fine with me as well. i'm still voting 2jz swap or possible stroker. was also looking at the rb25det but can't seem to find them cheaper (wonder why haha). i saw a 70's 280z with that engine and it sounded mean and took off. i had a friend of mine tell me to put a 350 in it. i laughed but thought the idea was kind of cool. but i couldn't put the S through that kind of shame. my buddy in virginia does have an extra 98 vette engine laying around. i'm not sure if he is still doing his build on it.

this is why i love this forum i get good information and feedback on things instead of total bashing and no support.
thanks guys keep the ideas flowing

I would suggest a ls1 or ls2. They arent all that heavy have great tq and can make awesome power. I think the s would be alot of fun with v8 tq. I know theres a guy that put a ls7 in that thing was totally insane that would be a neat swap too but very pricey.

Oh and when you do the swap you need to take the s2000 motor and trans and install it in a spitfire and then you will have two insanely awesome and quick cars.

i was going to take it out, rebuild it possibly still SC it and drop it in my buddies miata. that's where i'll be getting most of the money to do this swap. he said he can wait and if he can't i'll still do the swap and just either teach my wife to drive stick and let her have it or drive it for a few months and then sell it. when i was into the rx7's i did the turbo II swap in mine and a buddy did the LS swap. he made great numbers and it was great to see people's faces when we would walk out of a gas station and they would expect to hear a fart can and instead hear an awesome deep rumble. the LS swap would by FAR be the cheapest and make probably the best numbers for the dollar.

ok definatly not doing the stroker. atleast for my first swap. that is WAY too involved and REALLY expensive. that was about 10K just to get 277 HP. i'll give it that it is unique and very impressive but too expensive.

You save so much though because you can build it your self. You don't have to pay labor like me.

Stroker motor is cool and all but still doesnt make much power and not much added tq. Plus depending on the build you do you have to get the block done. I think the frankenstein stroker motor with boost would be cool thats kinda what I want to do.

well frank you are right in that i am going to be saving on labor but it will be my first time putting on my own turbo kit and trying to tune it myself. the rotary turbo swap i did it was already together i just had to drop it in. so this is new to me so i would have to take longer to do it. i would be more than happy to do anything to your car...as long as i had atleast done it to mine first so that if i run into something i'm messing up my car and not someone else's. also i'd have to send the whole thing out to get machined which isn't cheap. but you are right in the sense that i could put it together after all of that but for the money it's not worth it. i did call my buddy with the vette engine sitting around and he said he is going to use it so i can't have it. i doubt he will do anything with it he just doesn't want me to have it. and isn't the frankenstein a b16 with a b18 head? i thought those were only able to be used in FWD. i had a buddy with that set up in his CRX, that was a really fun car.
