Default remember that sound EJO...

yea well i had my appointment today about that noise coming from the cat...they didn't charge me anything because they said its "normal".....i dunno, EJO listened to it and thought there could be something majorly wrong...i think its just a heat shield or something small but it still bothers the hell out of me..

hopefully i get my test pipe in soon so i can slap that on the car and see if the noise goes away...if not screw it i'm gonna drive it till it blows the hell up and they can fix the whole engine since they don't want to figure out what is causing the noise now....

i think i'm gonna take trich up on his offer to help me isolate it whenever he gets back from CT...

anyone in lehigh valley area have a heated garage thats willing to let me use it to find where this noise is coming from???

the funny part about all this is that the mechanic who was working on my car OWNS a red s2000....it just really pisses me off that he's a fellow s2k owner and said that sound was "normal".....

Actually I didn't say anything could be majorly wrong since I couldn't tell exactly where the noise was coming from. To me it didn't really sound if it was coming from the Cat., it sounds like it's coming from somewhere closer to the engine. I highly agree with having Tim take a look/listen to it and see what he thinks. Maybe we'll have a tech day at Tim's house just to diagnose Kill's noise problem. Lots of Beer, Hotwings and Revving Kill's engine past Redline. j/k. Good luck with the diagnosis of the problem, if you want any help I can swing by Tims and lend a helping hand.

It may sound stupid, but did your car have the oem oil cap when you bought it. More than one member on here have had a "noise" coming from beneath the car towards the back of the engine only to find an oil cap lodged above the transmission.

Good luck figuring out your problem. A tech day sounds like fun.

I just had my cat replaced by honda. They told me at first nothing was wrong but when i took it back for inspection magically the cat needed to be replaced. I didnt get to hear it during the run but if it is a random rattle its prob the cat.

thanks guys... i really appreciate the replies. i'm gonna wait until my test pipe comes and install that...that and i'm gonna try the hanger trick to see if there just might be the oil cap in there. seriously though it kinda ruined my day when they came back saying it was "normal" but knowing you guys will help makes me feel a lot better. can't express enough how awsome this group is!!!

Wait until you get your blanket party initiation on Saturday. You'll think differently of us after that.

Kill, I have the Cat from my car in my garage, if you want to come over, switch Cats and see if you still hear the sound. We could also do this with Tim there for further advice.
