Default Rock the Dragon 2017

Hi all, hope everyone is staying warm and doing well.

So I've never been but I am going to plan on doing it this year since I've heard tons of good things. Just want to get a feeler of who is intersted in going and maybe get a game plan together i.e. lodging, travel plans, route's, etc... If anyone has been before and can shed some light on the do's and dont's or provide any helpful tips it would be appreciated!

I hope there'll be a decent amount of us going and we can kick 2017 off right!

There are several groups that caravan to the event. In my view, the trip there can be as much or more fun then the event. Hook up with someone and make it an adventure rather than drive past hours of great roads to get to the center of sports car bliss. RTD. Where are you from?

Yes, I have a bit of a problem. LOL All but one of the 2006 made it to the Dragon.

I wouldn't call it a problem, I'd call it dedication.

Doing the Dragon trip changed my life.

I met some amazing guys and it turned me to HPDE and understanding how amazing the S2000 really is. I'll be headed down for my 4th year in a row.

The roads in and around the Dragon are mind blowing. There's nothing like it.

I bet bet there will be another 200 S2000's there this year.

Ill be trailering this year because.. I can. Haha. The convoys down are really fun as long there's a plan.

I'll be headed down Tuesday and leaving Saturday morning. Best driving is during the week for 2 reasons. 1. No cops patrolling. 2. No traffic.

If if you are on the fence, shoot me a pm and I'll get you over the fear.

If you do go make sure you have decent matching tires, fresh brake fluid, pads, and an oil change.

Guys when I was stationed in South Carolina for 10 years I would go almost every time I could after I bought the car in 2012 when I wasn't deployed or TDY. I completely agree with SkiLLeDS2000 the Dragon completely changed the way I looked at the S2000. The more I modified my car to be a track car the more of a challenge it was to run the Dragon due to spring rates and suspension travel. So the next time I go I will go on R-Comps to help keep it on the ground a little better and have more AOA in my wing for more downforce. I remember one year I was running in a group with Billman and I was trying to keep up with him and cooked my brakes and those were Hawk HP+ pads. So like SkiLLeDS2000 said make sure you have fresh fluids (oil, brake, trans, and diff) radiator is good and topped off, good pads, good tires and an open mind to learn some new things, and don't try to keep up if you fall behind you fall behind nobody will fault you and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT PUSH YOURSELF OFF THE MOUNTIAN TRYING TO KEEP UP. Even seasoned skilled drivers have made mistakes they have paid for. I was in a run with a group and car in front of me braked way too late into the turn he was starting his turn when he began to brake and the car begun to spin to the inside of the mountain. He went off and into the side of the mountain thank god he and his passenger were ok and the car was ok but he was also a seasoned driver who had driven the Dragon about 20-30 times. Just take your time and enjoy the most amazing road in America next to race tracks and be sure to purchase your pictures as you drive through.
