Roll bar or hardtop for the track?
So I can't decide to go with a roll bar (Harddog) or hardtop (Forbidden) for track days. I was set on harddog until I saw the install, but the hardtop is double the $ and not as safe in my opinion. Of course both is best, but a lot of $$.
I am hoping the track junkies can help me with advice regarding which setup passes tech at local track/clubs better.

I did an HPDE with porsche club at Watkins Glen and me with softtop and harddog rollbar, and a friend with oem rollhoops and an oem hardtop. all of us did the event without any issues with tech.
the rollbar is $750 then you have to install it. You never have to take it out once you put it in (unless you plan on going back to stock). the hardtop is probably more than that... and with the hardtop, you still don't have anywhere to mount the harnesses properly (if you have harnesses)
if it were me, i would go with the rollbar, that way you can mount harnesses properly and not have to worry about tech at any tracks

Roll bar if you can, I'm pretty sure it is illegal in STR otherwise I would have one. The PCA will allow just the OEM hardtop, I've done that, I'm not sure about aftermarket hardtops. The SCCA will also allow OEM hardtop. The local PCA region is called Reisentoter. They call their HPDEs Driver's Education or just DE for short. So if you go hardtop you can always just go to their events. They have plenty of them every year. Like you said roll bar will be safer, cheaper, and get you with more organizations.
