Default Snowboard?

I finally decided to buy a board. The rentals really suck. They gave me a 166 last Sunday and it felt like I was driving a tractor trailor when I was trying to turn. The edges where dull and chipped and there was absolutly no wax on it. I got stuck a few times on slight inclines.

Ok so I know Kev and Howard snowboard. What brands should I look for and what size? Im intermediate. 5-9 150. Size 9 I dont try to jump, yet. I dont go to any major mountains, mostly local, so the terrain isnt anything crazy. I will probably only go 2-3 times a winter.

Also should I go to a store or buy online? I know I should buy boots and bindings at a store so I can try them on.

Oh and when are we doing a Del Val snowboard trip? We can all take our S's up there and get stuck in the parking lot.

Youd get the hang of it pretty quick. Larrys brother went with Sunday and quit after he tumbled the whole way down the mountain on his first run. He sat in the bar for the next 5 hours.

I want new pants, jacket and maybe a helmet to. Everyone else had helmets and goggles. I want to look more profesional while I bust my ass.

Im an impulse buyer, I have my mind on it now. I have off tomorrow, gonna go stop by a few shops to try some stuff on.

Board size: Measure the distance from feet to chin. You want a board that's higher than that. It should come between your chin and your nose. That comes just a little under my nose. Depending on what size shoe you wear, you might need a wide board. 10+ shoe size might require a wide. (Oh, you're a 9. regular board.) I'm 5'9" and I use a 160cm wide board.
You can goto Ebay to find a board. Lots of choices. I got mines for about $65 4 seasons ago.

Stance: Are you a regular rider or goofy? (Left side forward is regular, right side forward is goofy) Slide down hardwood floor with socks, whatever foot you naturally put forward is your dominante.

Boots and bindings: Goto a store and try on, then go buy online. Step-ins are for moderate/casual users, but straps are safer and will be geared more towards hardcore boarders.

Clothes:

Pants: Goto columbia/outlet and get a decent pair of ski/board pants. Teflon coated, waterproof. You can wear sweats or thermals under for extra protection/warmth.

Jacket: buy the coolest looking one.

Shirts: Underarmor is pretty good.

Gloves: Dicks I believe has a sale on burton gloves, $15 from what I heard.

Socks: THERMAL

Then stuff like hat, googles, etc.

I've taken the S snowboarding 2x. I fit the board in the passenger seat, one time with a passenger holding it.

Can't believe I drove to work today....

Thanks Howard. I saw you called the other night, I didnt have my phone on me.

65 dollars? Everything Im looking at is from 350 and up.

I was looking at this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/BURTON-SHAUN-WHITE-SNO...1QQcmdZViewItem

or
http://cgi.ebay.com/BURTON-CUSTOM-X-SNOWBO...1QQcmdZViewItem

156-158 would be right in between my chin and nose. 160 is to my forehead.

What about either one of those?
