I know quite a few people are happy with the kumho's for performance and economy.

personally I'm on the bridgesone potenza 050's I like em! I think any tire, once it's worn is gonna perform badly in the rain. I've had all bridgestone tires... RE950's, S02's, S03's and 050's for daily economyand performance I also liked the RE950s... I even recouped money on the treadwear warranty that came with those... although the dealer said... "savor the flavor, cuz it ain't gonna happen again!

I have bridgestone re750's, great in the rain. They are great on the dry for my style driving.

You're right, this topic has been discussed many times. Personally, I like either the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's or Dunlop SP 9000's as daily driven wet/dry tires. It is hard to beat their performance at any price, and they handle the wet weather with amazing skill. I've had sets of them on my cars, so I can tell you from personal experience. If you're looking for a dry only tire, you can look no further than the BFG TA/KD's. They are hands down the best dry traction street tire I've ever used. They're so good at handling, it's no fun because you can't break the car loose! Currently, I'm running S03's, which I find effective, but not as good as the others. They're also heavier and more expensive than the above listed tires. I won't be running them again.

Bridgestone S-03s are by far the best tires in the wet I have ever driven on. Their wet grip seems to defy the laws of physics. And they have good hydroplane resistance too. Dry performance is very good too. All around great tire, even if a tad pricey

Aside from the price argument, the other problem I have with the S-03's is their weight. If you read the specs on the Tire Rack's website, in the 225/255 18 sizes I run on my OZ's, the S-03's are some 4-5lbs heavier PER TIRE than either SP9000's or Eagle F1's. That's a lot of unsprung weight to save.

I'm now on S-03's on the rear, but will probably go back to Kumho 712's when ready for all 4. May depend on whether or not I keep the current 'garage queen' status.....

I had 2 sets of Kumho ECSTA 712 on my prior '00 Silverstone and felt they gave good value/ adequate performance
