It's been described as "baseball card in the spokes of a bicycle".
Sounds about right, no?
Sound like and exhaust leak, misfire or serious engine issue, If it goes away when the engine gets warm its probably an exhaust leak, otherwise check ignition & compression.
If it not those it is probably mechanical
Drain & strain the oil looking for metal
Pull the valve cover and look around for anything abnormal
-verify cam timing (unlikely, easy to check)
-check valve clearances (adjuster may have come loose)
-look for (common head issues)
--broken rocker
--cracked roller
--cracked valve retainer
Pull head to look at pistons and valves....
Drop oil pan to check bearings....
Unless you know it goes away when warm or find a loose/broken header bolt, I would pull the valve cover first before I ran the engine very much, checking spark plugs at the same time.

Playing card in the spokes sound it almost universally the TCT.
Ever replaced the Timing Chain Tensioner? How many miles on the car?
I put the Billman GenX TCT on my engine a month or two ago as preventive maintenance. Took 15 minutes with a 10mm ratchet spanner (not socket wrench). Never bothered getting into work clothes the job was so clean. Paper towel to catch a few drops of oil. OEM and other brands have a reputation of quickly failing. Billman's custom TCT has a lifetime warranty. Follow instructions exactly and here's no hassles. There's a core charge which was refunded the day he got my OEM TCT and bolts back to Long Island.
